Overview

NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU is a forthcoming publication by Hamza Ashraf and the second title from Deepstate Press.

Through photography, fragmented writing and image-based interventions, the publication unfolds as a stream of consciousness that moves between confession, allegory and documentary observation. Conceived as an homage to Clarice Lispector's The Passion According to G.H., the work resists linear narrative in favour of accumulation, repetition and psychological drift.

The publication begins with an unsettling encounter: a fox enters a garden and tears a baby bird from the sky as the chorus of animals surrounding it protest and grieve. From this rupture, the work spirals outward into meditations on migration, bureaucracy, violence and the fragile illusion of stability, asking what it means to witness the collapse of a world while continuing to inhabit it.

Moving between blurred photographs, image transfers, family archives, asylum paperwork and fragments of text, no one is coming to save you constructs a world where identity, memory and place remain in constant negotiation. Rather than offering resolution, the publication lingers within uncertainty, tracing how systems of control continue to shape the body long after the paperwork has ended.
