Our debut publication ‘GOD IS TRANS’ by Jitendra Jerry documents the Koovagam Festival in Tamil Nadu through portraits of devotion, community and celebration, offering a deeply personal reflection on faith, identity and trans belonging.

Moving between portraiture, documentary and fashion, Jerry’s photographs encounter moments of devotion, intimacy, celebration and community. The work considers the ways identity can be performed, shared and experienced through collective ritual, while remaining rooted in Jerry’s own relationship to the people and spaces she photographs.

The installation brings together photographic works from the publication with objects and materials drawn from the rituals of preparation, adornment and departure surrounding Koovagam.
